People often ask us when they should come to Karjat, and the honest answer is that there is no bad time, only different kinds of good. Each season here has its own character. The monsoon is dramatic and green, winter is crisp and clear, and summer brings mangoes and long, lazy afternoons by the pool. Here is what to expect through the year so you can pick the trip that suits you.

Monsoon (June to September): The Showstopper

If you ask us, this is the best time to visit Karjat. From June the rains transform the hills. Everything turns a deep, impossible green, streams appear where there were none, and the waterfalls run full and loud. The air is cool and washed clean. It is the peak season, and deservedly so.

The one thing to know is that monsoon travel needs a little sense: proper shoes, caution around fast water, and flexibility if a trek gets rained off. But sitting under a roof with a hot chai while it pours over the fields is one of the great simple pleasures, and it is exactly what our guests come back for. Read our full monsoon at Amra Woods guide and the waterfalls guide before you plan.

Post-Monsoon & Winter (October to February): The Sweet Spot

By October the heavy rain eases but the green lingers, which makes early winter gorgeous. Through November to February, Karjat settles into cool, clear weather, warm days and genuinely chilly mornings and nights. This is prime time for treks, long farm walks and bonfire evenings where the fire actually earns its place.

Winter is the most family-friendly season, comfortable for grandparents and kids alike, and a favourite for group trips and celebrations. If you want the easiest weather of the year, come now.

Summer (March to May): Mango Season and Slow Days

Summer is warmer, and the middle of the day asks you to slow down, which is no bad thing on a farm. Mornings and evenings stay pleasant, and this is when the pool truly earns its keep. Most importantly, this is mango season. Our name, Amra, means mango in Marathi, so this is a season close to our hearts.

If you want ripe fruit off the trees, warm afternoons by the water and quiet, uncrowded days, summer is lovely. Read about mango season at Amra Woods.

So, When Should You Come?

  • For green hills and waterfalls: June to September (monsoon).
  • For the most comfortable weather and treks: November to February (winter).
  • For mangoes and lazy pool days: April to June (summer).
  • For fewer crowds: weekdays in any season, and the shoulder months of October and March.

Whatever you choose, one advantage of a private farm stay is that the property is yours regardless of season. No crowds, no waiting, just the weather and the fields and your group. If it is your first time, read what to expect on your first farm stay.
